Curiosidades

- Os modelos de King Kong usados no filme tinham apenas 40 centímetros de altura mas, na história, o personagem tinha 15 metros.

- O rugido de King Kong no filme era na verdade uma combinação feita com os rugidos de leões e tigres.

- Na época das filmagens de King Kongtanto o Empire State Building quanto o prédio da Chrysler estavam sendo construídos em Nova York. Inicialmente o roteiro previa que Kong escalaria o prédio da Chrysler, que seria o prédio mais alto do mundo. Porém uma mudança nos planos de construção do Empire State Building fez com que ele se tornasse o prédio mais alto, fazendo também com que fosse o escolhido pelos produtores para a escalada de Kong no filme.

- A cena em que King Kong escala o Empire State Building foi rodada com um homem vestido de macaco escalando uma torre em miniatura, idêntica à original.

- As cenas da floresta foram rodadas no mesmo set de filmagens de The Most Dangerous Game(1932).

- A ponte construída para os sets de filmagens de King Kong foi destruída na filmagem da cena do incêndio em Atlanta, de E o Vento Levou (1939).

- King Kong arrecadou US$ 90 mil em seu fim de semana de estréia, sendo a maior abertura do cinema norte-americano em todos os tempos até então. O sucesso do filme nos cinemas foi uma das causas que evitou a falência da RKO Radio Pictures, produtora do longa-metragem.

- Foi lançado 4 vezes nos cinemas norte-americanos entre 1933 e 1952, sendo que a cada relançamento novas cenas eram incluídas no filme.

- Refilmado em 1976 e 2005.

Sinopse

Em Nova York um famoso diretor de cinema não consegue uma atriz para sua próxima produção, pois ninguém quer ir filmar em um lugar não revelado. Assim ele mesmo começa a vagar pelas ruas até que encontra uma jovem pobre, mas muito bonita, a quem imediatamente dá o emprego. A equipe viaja e vai parar em uma ilha desconhecida, na qual os nativos oferecem "noivas" para Kong, um gigantesco macaco. Após muitos perigos a equipe de filmagens conseguem capturar o macaco, pois pretendem levá-lo para Nova York para ser exibido. Paralelamente o símio se apaixona pela atriz.
